Do you know?

Now that I am learning about transmission lines, I happen to recall my A'level physics. I remember Ah chow once explain why birds standing on the transmission lines will never get electrocuted, but I've forgotten WHY. The few campusmates from the same JC could not recall too. Do you remember WHY? For others, do you know WHY?
